The Craft-E-Kittens : Special Cats with Special Needs...

Well its pretty self explainatary in a way.
The cats each have special needs , medical requirements and if left to fend for themselves would not survive.
We are their carers and family.

We fundraise through various online storefronts , websites and at local trade shows , craft fairs , markets and events. The funds raised go towards covering costs of Cat Litter , Medicines , Cleaning Supplies , Food , Toys , Heaters , Towels , Beds etc etc for the cats. As well as this we make a wide variety of crafted items "In our spare time" , also to try and sell to raise funds.

How things "Work" differs and depends on which cats we have with us.

Now that beary and socky have passed - things are different in the sense we no longer have to worry about objects that are higher than knee height , as they both had bad legs.
Or which items are within reach for Chewie to try to eat when she shouldnt ,  So for instance with the arrival of the new cats last december , we raised funds towards buying a new climbing frame / activity tree.
This year chewie is having bad balance issues but likes to still climb , so we will fundraise towards building a safer climbing arena for her.

Pumpkin needs to be kept warm with her heart condition and loves to hop straight back to her bed once she has had a quick run around and feed.
So we have invested in new beds and will continue to buy new towels etc as required for bedding.

Wolfie although being very sneezy has little requirements other than food (he thinks he "MUST" have any food he sees and hears being moved) but aside from this his only requirement is to sit on our tummy for a hug and nest down on us - so we will be trying to fundraise towards getting additional seating for the coming months in the cabin as the one mini futon sofa isnt really large enough for us all to fit!

As you can hopefully see , they are not"Just Cats" , and things are far from "simple" in the cat cabin or regarding the furbabies in our lives.  Please keep reading throughout the pages of the site for more information

Greetings from The Craft-E-Kittens, and their carer Kitty.
We are currently caring for the Sixth generation of TCEK.

As long as the Cat Cabin has been here, there have been special needs cats living within.
The first were Sox, Beary & Chewie as pictured above.
However, before the cabin they shared The Den [A large 13ft x 7.5ft x 10ft outdoor enclosure].

With each new member of our adopted family, the "rules" for life in the cabin change.
When the cabin first came about - it was pretty simple. Follow any routine already in place with Socky. Keep curtains closed, no entering the cabin with foods / drinks "un-socky-safe" ,no entry without washing your hands or changing your clothes, always wear gloves when cleaning up.... etc etc. As time goes by we have clearly had to change these rules to coincide with other illnesses and issues.

Of course, some rules never change - no matter who lives in the cabin!
Such as my golden rule - "Always keep the gate closed!"
Going in or coming out, never have both doors open at once unless the cats are secure in their house while we are moving furniture or doing maintanence.

  2. Stitch [Beany]

Stitch came to us with Eddy on 12th July 2014

They both came from the same home, but due to the family recently having a baby they had to give up the cats as the baby developed an allergy to them.

Beany has Brown, black and tan mid length fur with highlights.
He is FIV positive. He shows no obvious signs of illness from this so far.

(update feb 2015) he has started to occassionally sneeze when washing - unsure if this is related to immune disorder.

It is estimated that Beany is between 3 and 4 years old

He likes to sleep on his blue stool, on his paddle blanky on the sofa or on top of mumma (Me!).

He rarely has hugs with the other cats at playtimes but does occassionally like licky washes with Wolfie and Chewie.
Beany has made many attempts to try it on pum, or to mistake her mad dash from house to cat scratch tree - as a sign of "ooh chase play play time" then realised too late that this may result in being playfought by her and retreats swiftly (dont blame him!). Generally he seems to get along well with the others, but for coming from a home with Eddy - they dont seem particularly bonded.

His favourite foods are Felix As Good As It Looks, especially Trout and Courgette or Chicken and Tomato. Also adores Vitacat and Gourmet Gold!

He doesnt have a favourite toy but does enjoy playing with home made toys such as Meesers etc.
